So Long

The world's longest weekend came to a close last night at around nine. Marcy walked in the door after forever in the car and I was officially no longer by myself with the Kid and the dog. Sweet relief.

Marcy left on Thursday night for a weekend away with college friends -- that meant it was a Lily and Dad weekend. Needless to say I was tired when it was all over. Lily spent the weekend recovering from her cold and keeping busy. On Friday she went to school but was apparently still not feeling 100%. She went to bed at about 6:30 and slept until about 5:45 - Saturday was off and running. We played around the house until about 9:30 and then we went off to visit Hayley and Cole and a visit to the playground. Lil loved the swings and despite my efforts to do other stuff, she just wanted to swing. We went for lunch and Lil ate like champ - a grilled cheese and bunch of other stuff that Hayley's mom brought with her for the kids to snack on (thank goodness - my sippy cup was insufficient entertainment). We went home from the playground and took a nice long nap (2 hours). Then we were off to run some errands. Back home for dinner (a few more episodes of Blue's Clues) and the bath and bed. Lily was not so much of fan of the bath - she does not like water anywhere near her face and has no interest in hair being combed - both induced bouts of crying.

The spring forward of the clocks created some minor chaos with Lil's body. We had a quiet day around the house and ran a few errands. Both of us eagerly anticipating the return of "Ma". Lil went to bed before Marcy got home but there is no doubt she missed her totally. The entire weekend whenever she woke up the first word was "Ma" and whenever we returned home from an outing she was asking for "Ma".

Overall, we had a great time but it is nice to know that we will both be home next weekend. I am still exhausted!

In other news, Lil is adjusting well to her new classroom - although she was out Wednesday and Thursday with her cold. Grandma Gail bailed us out once again on Thursday with her baby-sitting. Other than that, things continue along. Lil's vocabulary is slowly increasing but her comprehension is excellent -- she seems to understand us (and Blue) better than we can understand her at this stage.

That is all for now. Not too many pictures this week - I was negligent and otherwise had my hand's full.
