Three Cool Cats

After Wednesday's bite (see previous 'Love Bites' post), things calmed down a bit around here. The bite has essentially healed, it was just a little purple over the weekend.

Unfortunately we had some rainy weather on Friday and Saturday, however, we did mange to get some long walks in with the pooch, and had a little time on the playground. Lily is getting pretty comfortable getting around on the playground, and still loves the slide and playing with the mulch.

Saturday night, we visited with Hayley and Cole, and Lily had fun running around their house - literally!

Sunday, Lily helped Mom do some gardening with her own gardening tools, and has also learned how to blow bubbles all by herself. Once Dad got home from work (unfortunately he had to work quite a bit this weekend), Lily got some new kicks from Stride Rite and some summer sandals from Gap - I'm sure they will be featured soon enough.

Lily is keeping busy at school, especially with art projects. Last week, she made a jellyfish, fish and starfish, and today she made a red crab with her hands.

Enjoy the pics...

Okay, we did not set this up. She crawled in, sat down and then closed the door. And did not want to come out. Can we say future babysitter?

This looks like trouble ... down the road we will look back at this picture and see the beginning of partners in crime. Lily and Hayley consipiring. Can't you just see Hayley saying, "Come on, we're not doing anything."

Love Bites

Wednesday started out as a normal day until approximately 8:30 a.m. when one of Lily's classmates decided to take a chomp out of her FACE - yes, I said FACE.

Lily and the "biter" were playing at the kitchen set, and he leaned over with his mouth wide open and bit Lily's cheek. No aggression, just wanted a little taste. The top teeth ended up right below her eye, the bottom teeth were even with her mouth. Fortunately the skin was not broken, Lily only cried for about a minute, ice was applied, and she recovered and had a good day.

Confidentiality does not allow for the school to tell us who the "biter" was, however, Stuart and I have our suspicions and are almost positive that it was one particular boy in her class - we, however, will not slander the lad on Lily's blog.:) His parents were purportedly horrified by the incident, although neither parent has discussed the incident with us to date. We of course don't blame the "biter," it is a pretty common habit with toddlers, but obviously this needs to be nipped (no pun intended) in the bud and we hope it does not happen again.

Fortunately, Lily has recovered and holds no grudges. Today, the bottom bite is purplish but healing well. We did take a few pics for posterity (and pending litigation)... we believe she will make a full recovery!! See you Monday!!

P.S. - Thanks to Cousin Jenna for the cute skirt and shirt outfit below.

Soot and Stars

Another busy week in Lily-land. The week was centered around Grandpa Tom's ... dare we say it ... 60th Birthday. The festivities kicked off on Wednesday when Marcy and the two Aunts went to a National's game with Grandpa Tom - a surprise since he thought he was going with Marcy and I. Lily participated by agreeing to be baby watched by Grandma Gail until I got home from work.

On Friday we headed down to the lake for a weekend of peace and quiet. Lily was a champ in the car and slept, ate and watched movies both there and back. At the lake she had fun playing with the dogs (and loudly pointing them all out to everyone) and going on the pontoon boat. She also enjoyed bunking with Mom & Dad on the floor of their room. No crib ... just a crib mattress. We awoke early Saturday morning to find Lily's leg sticking out from under our bed as she rolled underneath while sleeping ... she just won't lie still.

That is about all. We are all looking forward to a weekend at home (where we are all healthy). Despite my best efforts to convey and record what happens each week in this blog (it has been a great baby book and I look back to last year and I am thankful that we have persevered), neither Marcy or I have reflected often enough about how lucky we are to have such a precocious, personable and most importantly, healthy baby. Sometimes in the day to day activities of getting ready for school, making meals and entertaining and teaching her life lessons (like, no, you cannot through your milk and placemat on the floor at every meal) we can forget to thank our lucky stars and appreciate how fortunate we have been. So thank you lucky stars - we are exceedingly grateful.

Enjoy the pics and video - more dancing for you fans of disco.

Play That Funky Music

The family is finally in good health again. Lily is back to sleeping 12 to 13 hours per night and even slept until 8:15am on Saturday, unfortunately it was back to 7am on Sunday but we aren't complaining!

Lily is enjoying school and successfully napping on her cot. She and her classmates fingerpainted trees on the classroom windows, however, we were informed that Lily could not wait to finish her tree limbs, as she did not enjoy getting her hands dirty. ;)

Friday brought some warm weather so we were able to enjoy some time on the playground and playing ball in the driveway. Lily loves driving her pooh plane outside.

Saturday was rainy and chilly so we enjoyed some time indoors and then got together with Grandpa Maurice and Grandma Phyllis for a delish Italian meal at Maggiano's. Sunday, Lily played with her kitchen set and the 120 pieces of food she now has for her food cart.

Lily has been perfecting her dance moves, she now bops her head and performs her signature dance move ("the squat") whenever she hears music, whether it be over the speakers in Old Navy, the radio in the car, on the television, or blaring from her cd player. She definitely likes to boogie!! She loves singing/humming Old MacDonald, the ABC song, and Row, Row, Row Your Boat. She also now says "Cheese" when you take her picture. She is repeating more and more of what we say, so I guess this is when we need to minimize the cursing (not Stuart or I!) and begin spelling certain words.;)

She now has her own toilet which flushes, talks, and sings so she can experiment, however, I suspect actual toilet training is a few months away, but maybe she will surprise us...

So Long

The world's longest weekend came to a close last night at around nine. Marcy walked in the door after forever in the car and I was officially no longer by myself with the Kid and the dog. Sweet relief.

Marcy left on Thursday night for a weekend away with college friends -- that meant it was a Lily and Dad weekend. Needless to say I was tired when it was all over. Lily spent the weekend recovering from her cold and keeping busy. On Friday she went to school but was apparently still not feeling 100%. She went to bed at about 6:30 and slept until about 5:45 - Saturday was off and running. We played around the house until about 9:30 and then we went off to visit Hayley and Cole and a visit to the playground. Lil loved the swings and despite my efforts to do other stuff, she just wanted to swing. We went for lunch and Lil ate like champ - a grilled cheese and bunch of other stuff that Hayley's mom brought with her for the kids to snack on (thank goodness - my sippy cup was insufficient entertainment). We went home from the playground and took a nice long nap (2 hours). Then we were off to run some errands. Back home for dinner (a few more episodes of Blue's Clues) and the bath and bed. Lily was not so much of fan of the bath - she does not like water anywhere near her face and has no interest in hair being combed - both induced bouts of crying.

The spring forward of the clocks created some minor chaos with Lil's body. We had a quiet day around the house and ran a few errands. Both of us eagerly anticipating the return of "Ma". Lil went to bed before Marcy got home but there is no doubt she missed her totally. The entire weekend whenever she woke up the first word was "Ma" and whenever we returned home from an outing she was asking for "Ma".

Overall, we had a great time but it is nice to know that we will both be home next weekend. I am still exhausted!

In other news, Lil is adjusting well to her new classroom - although she was out Wednesday and Thursday with her cold. Grandma Gail bailed us out once again on Thursday with her baby-sitting. Other than that, things continue along. Lil's vocabulary is slowly increasing but her comprehension is excellent -- she seems to understand us (and Blue) better than we can understand her at this stage.

That is all for now. Not too many pictures this week - I was negligent and otherwise had my hand's full.
