One of These Things First

Another big day of firsts ... easy to do when you are four days old. It will be hard for her to keep this up but we are considering getting her lessons in something exotic like sword swallowing or trapeze so she can continue to have new firsts in the future. Rodeo or race walking may be other options to consider.

Anyway, today we started off by sleeping until seven. The 3 am feeding lasted a little longer than anticipated -- at least longer than I expected. I started at 3 with diaper change ... then we had a bottle which took until about 3:30. At 4:15 we were still hanging out ... me just chatting away and Lily just not falling asleep. So I called in the enforcer; 15 minutes with Mom and Lily was asleep.

After a hearty breakfast and 10 am feeding totaling 3.5 ounces we moved on to her first bath at home. which took place in the kitchen sink. Since her cord is still on we were restricted to a sponge bath ... regular bath fun will be in a week or two. Lily absolutely hates being washed -- you would think that she would be pretty ripe after four days of no bath but she still had that good baby smell. Her hair was really greasey though. Thirty minutes later she was all clean and exhausted from screaming her lungs out. For a change of pace Lily decided to take a nap.

Later in the day she hung out in her Pack & Play for the first time and spent some quality time in her bouncy seat. Lily passed the powdered formula test by downing 2 ounces in her very own bottle -- a new eating record (set with the help of Grandma Gail -- something about that side of the family makes her eat). Before dinner, hers and ours, she spent some quality time with a pacifier in her mouth. As I said, a big day of firsts.

Tomorrow is a trip out into the rest of the world with a visit to the pediatrician and maybe a quick run to the store for some more bottles -- something tells me that three will not be enough. (We wanted to make sure that she actually like this brand of bottles before buying more.)

Goodnight and see everyone tomorrow.

Getting adjusted to the morning sun.

Lily's first time in her Pack & Play. She looks so small in it.

With Tubby and her Bear watching over her.

Afternoon feeding from Grandma. This was Lily's first feeding with powdered formula and in her fancy Dr. Brown's bottles.

Being camera shy while eating.

She is very embarassed to be seen with so much food all over her face.

Alright, here is a little peek.
