Have pity on the working man

Well with work back in full swing, daily updates have been hard to do. Lily and Marcy are doing great. Cousin Emilie went home today after a week here. She was a great help and will be missed ... especially at 3 a.m. this morning :)

Here are some pictures, more to come this weekend. Lily gets her first big girl bath tomorrow since her umbilical cord finally fell off yesterday.

She loves having her hair washed.

She is laughing because Grandma Gail is burping her tush.

Sleeping ... something she hasn't been doing enough of lately.

Bottle of Blues

Marcy, Emilie and Lily met Aunt Tracy and her friend Jessica and eight week old son Hunter at Tyson's Corner Mall today for lunch. I hear that a good time was had by all. Lily and Hunter got apparently got along well and slept through each other's company.

The excitement of the afternoon occurred later when Lily was in the mall and ready for her three o'clock feeding. Marcy went to warm the bottle and lo' and behold it was all put together but without a nipple. You see, we lost one nipple but I made all the bottles last night but failed to put on a replacement nipple. So, Marcy picked the one of seven bottles that did not have nipple ... what are the odds? I know, 1 in 7. Anyway, some quick thinking, a trip to the CVS resulted in a replacement bottle, a bottle cleaner and some Palmolive. A high temperature washing in the ladies' lounge of the Nordstrom and Lily was in business. To top off the incident, Emilie, who just graduated from law school and was waiting with Lily in the lounge while Marcy and Tracy went for a bottle, was offered a job as someone's nanny. I think she is considering it.

On to the photographs ...

Wow, look at all these clothes at Nordstrom.

Sunday

Here are some pictures for Sunday. All is going well.

Lily slept great last night, from 9 pm to 4 am. A new record. She continues to eat well and she is getting bigger and more alert everyday.

More pictures from today will be posted later. Gotta go eat dinner.

A little tummy time on Sunday morning.

This one is for Aunt Donna :)

Stuck on You

No post last night but not to worry, super sized post today. Last night everyone was just too tired to do anything, including write on the blog. That being said, yesterday was a big day.
Lily went to the doctor for her two week visit. The doctor's office said that everything was looking good. Lily is now 7 lbs. 5 ounces. (Up 5 ounces from birth and a Coke can (11 ounces) from her visit two weeks ago. She is also now 20 inches long (1.5 inches longer than birth). She is still pretty little. The only thing the doctor's office wanted to monitor was the fact that her umbilical cord has still not fallen off. They gave her a treatment and if does not fall off by next week she goes back again for a second treatment. It will be nice when it pops off so we can give her a real bath. As a nice bonus, the doctor's office gave us free formula. I love free stuff.

Lily also had her first trip to Target where she bought some more hangers for all her clothes and some thank you notes to send to all the folks who bought such nice gifts. Then home for a not so quiet evening. It seems as though she has finally found her appetite as she has blown through the two ounce mark and is now eating more than three ounces per feeding. Needless to say, she is not shy about demanding more food and she manages to hit that note that sends Gypsy running for another room.

Today we went to the Mall and then for another trip to Babies R Us since Lily needed more diapers and few more thermal blankets. We bought a lot of the regular size diapers but she is still pretty little so she will probably be wearing the newborn swaddling diapers for a little while.
We also tried Lily out in her swing today. Not such a fan yet but we will try again in a few weeks. I am sure that she will grow into it.

Anyway, Cousin Emilie is here and has been a great help. She and Lily seem to get along pretty well.

Just a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts

Another apparently exciting day without Dad! The ladies, all of the ladies, Marcy, Em, Gypsy and Lily went to the park this afternoon. As usual, our narcoleptic daughter slept through the entire field trip. I hear fun was had by three and sleep by one.

Otherwise a normal day of eating, bathroom breaks and outfit changes. Lily had her official baby annoucement picture taken tonight and she was an excellent model. She managed to stay awake long enough to take the picture but she is once again passed out. Everyone here is doing well but we are looking forward to the weekend so we can sleep in ... just kidding.

Tomorrow is Lily's two week doctor visit and we will see how much weight she is gaining now that she is really pigging out and eating every three hours. She wakes up and is absolutely famished, you would think that we don't feed her.

The every other day bath.

I am ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille.

Dressing Up

Lily went out and about town for the first time today. Grandma Gail and one of her friends came over and took Marcy and Lily out to lunch. Everyone but Lily ate at the Panera Bread .. Lily ate in the linen section of Bed, Bath & Beyond. Marcy apparently was quick on her feet and managed to make a bottle, soothe Lily and feed her all in one swift motion. As you can see below, Lily got all dolled up for her big afternoon out. It was really her first time in something other than a onesie and she was very excited, okay, not really but we were. Lily also had her first trip to the Gap today, one of her Mom's favorite stores, but she apparently slept right through the visit.

Lily continues to sleep pretty well, giving us four hours of rest each night per sleep session. She is eating more and more and it seems like she is filling out a little bit. Next big milestone will either be her eating a full four ounce bottle or her umbilical cord falling off. Any guess as to what will happen first?

Cousin Emilie arrived tonight and will provide a helpful second set of hands for the next little while.

More of the same.

Kodachrome

Today was the real first day back at work ... in other words, Lily's personal photographer had to go earn some moolah to pay for more fancy name-brand formula. As a result, Marcy served as photographer but had her hands full and could not take as many pictures as Lily's Pad readers are accustomed to seeing. I am thinking of staying home full time to take pictures ... but then the house would be a lot smaller - like a refrigerator box on the mean streets of Crofton, since neither of us would be working.

From what I hear, it was a relatively quiet day at home. Marcy and Lily went for a walk, played bridge with our neighbors and watched some quality tv.

Cousin Emilie comes for an extended stay tomorrow night. She likes to take a lot of pictures so there should be some good ones to choose from for the next week or so. It will be nice to have an extra set of hands around because even though Lily is small, she is handful and she likes to be held.

Stretching after a rough morning.

Maybe a little more sleep is in order.

Truly a rough life.
