On Friday, we went to the pool - Lily is swimming like a fish, doing very well working on freestyle and she is now regularly wearing her googles. She starts lessons a week from today and is very excited. Jack is fearless in the water, jumping from the side, and asking that I not catch him (in 3 feet of water).
On Saturday, Lily started t-ball, she had a lot of fun practicing catching and hitting the ball off the tee. This week she will be assigned to a team, and they will practice for the first half and then play a game the remaining half - she is very excited. While Lily was practicing, Jack was keeping himself entertained hitting the ball with his superman bat, he could do that for hours, he LOVES baseball. Later in the afternoon, we met up with Hayley, Cole, Ms. Michelle, and Mr. John at a local festival where we jammed to some music and had dinner - Jack and Hayley were completely wild dancers, with Lily joining in here and there - we suspect it might be a second kid thing.
On Sunday, we had a follow-up lesson for Daisy in West Virginia, so Jack and Lily got to see some baby bunnies, chickens, horses, dogs, and baby goats. We returned home, and Grandpa Maurice came over and took the kids to the park, and then we all met for dinner.
Today was Jack's first day of school, both Lily and Jack were very excited while Mom was a little teary eyed. He was great when Stuart dropped them off, and was "mowing" the lawn when he left. Apparently, he cried a few times during the day, one time when he lost track of Lily on the playground but overall had a good day. He apparently ate a little bit for lunch telling me that the "ham was yucky" and while he laid quietly on his cot, he did not nap. He was happily drawing a picture when I picked him up, and while he was happy to see me, he was not desperate to leave. Overall, it was a successful day, and he is looking forward to tomorrow. Apparently, during story time one of his teacher's Ms. Lopa was reading a story about being special, and she asked Jack about being special and he said "I'm special because I'm a Magic Bear." - that is the name of his classroom. Lily was definitely super big sister today, she ate breakfast with him when he was nervous and watched out for all day at school, and even told him that he could not throw sand, we are happy she will be around for the next two months to show him the ropes and alert us to any misbehaving. ;)
Enjoy the few pictures we have, we will do better next week! In the interim, we changed up the background for your viewing pleasure.
