Northern Sky

A really busy week went by quickly so time for another blog entry. Once we got back from New York it was almost time for Thanksgiving. As many know, we hosted the big meal for the first time this year and we had a great dinner with many family members (18) ... Marcy did a great job and her first turkey turned out fantastic and all the traditional sides were great. Unfortunatley, we were so busy cooking and hosting that we don't really have any pictures from the Turkey Day ... we will have to get Grandpa Tom's shots.

We cleaned up from dinner and were off to Toronto to celebrate the Bar Mitzvah of my cousin Graeme. Lily got a chance to meet many of her relatives and had a chance to play with her little (second) cousins. We had a great time on the trip and it was really nice to spend some time with relatives. Grandpa Maurice got to spend time with Lily over the weekend too and hopefully Grandma Phyllis will get over her flu soon.

That is all for now ... we got home today so tomorrow is back to the normal programming. Lil is going back to school for the first time in almost two weeks -- will they recognize her there? She is walking so well now and is eating like a champ ... growing in leaps and bounds. I almost forgot to mention that her first molar has broken through. She seems to have the chewing thing down and was chewing and eating whole crackers and other foods like a champ this weekend.

Lil is all bundled up for her trip to the great white north.

Lil all dressed up, eating bread and smelling the flowers with Cousin Arelene.

Quality time with Uncle Simon.

All dressed up ...

Catching some zzzzs when possible.

Lily showing off her specialty - eating!

Lily playing with her cousin Aden who is exactly one year older than her.

Marcy is readling to Lily and her cousin Samara.

Lily drawing on the Aquadoodle pad. She seemed to really like this ... we are going to have to get one.

Lily showing Aden her favorite thing to do ... trying to press the buttons on electronic components.

Vacation

Late post this week because Marcy and I were at a wedding on Saturday night and in New York Sunday and Monday night. Lily got to spend the weekend with Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom and she appears to have had a great time.

Here is Grandpa Tom's Weekend report:

"Major events included:

bringing her back to health from the germ warfare of Day Care;
trimming her bangs so she would not be mistaken for a Sheep Dog puppy;
she likes to fall asleep to extravagant piano music;
she likes "walking around food" in a cup or stashed in the pocket of her bib;
she was a good sleeper and a good eater, particularly bananas;
she learned to endure and cooperate with nose wipings - next lesson is how-to-blow."

All pictures this week come courtesy of Grandpa Tom -- Enjoy. Next week's entry will be fresh back from Toronto where we are going to visit family and celebrate cousin Graeme's Bar Mitzvah.

Special thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for babysitting Lil and Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice and Lexi for dogsitting the furrier child.

Grandma and Grandpa let me eat whatever I want.

No, really, whatever I want!!!

And sleep on the sofa.

And drink on the sofa.

My new bike ... Lily is already asking to go back!

Talking to Grandma Gail's festive animals.

On the slide with Grandpa Tom.

Mulch ... do you see a theme here ... no matter the park, Lil loves the mulch.

Dead Leaves and The Dirty Ground

We were fortunate to have a beautiful weekend so we got to enjoy the playground and playing in the leaves, I suspect the chilly weather will be here soon enough. This week, we had hardwood floors installed on the rest of the second floor, therefore, Lily is enjoying being able to ride and push her Pooh plane and baby doll carriage without any carpet to interfere!! She is walking a lot more often now and can essentially go the length of the house without a spill - probably about 80% walking, 20% crawling. Her 9th tooth is coming in, so I believe that will be 5 up top and 4 down below. This weekend, Lily had a quick visit with Granpa Maurice and Grandma Phyllis, and then got to hang out with friends Donna, Dave, Sean (3), and James (5 months) - sorry, did not get any good shots. Apparently Lily felt very comfortable with her new friends, prancing around in her diaper. Sunday Lily had a date with her friend Brendan, they went out for a nice candlelit dinner - again, no good shots of the two of them, although she did get to hang out in Brendan's turtle full of balls. We have lots coming up in the next few weeks - Lily is going to stay with Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom this weekend, then Turkey Day, then Toronto, so we will try to get a post in there at some point...Enjoy!!

Black beans anyone?

Slide Away

Another week in Lily-land. Despite our best efforts, Lil is shy about walking on camera so this week's posting has no walking video. Instead, we have captured Lil's first trip down the slide at the neighborhood's tot lot. She loved it and something tells me that we will be spending a lot of time over there from now on while she goes up and down.

Saturday night we went for Mexican with Lil's friend Hayley and her parents. The two were perfect ladies during dinner and had a chance to play afterwards. They seemed to have a good time and I am sure another play date is around the corner.

Sunday was dinner at Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom's office to bid a good trip to Aunt Tracy and Uncle Stan's big move to Colorado. Lil will miss them but know's they will be back to visit often.

That is all for now. See you next week.

Lily at the slide. The first trip down can be a bit overwhelming.

"Should I go?"

Trepidation.

A close up.

On this weekend's roadtrip we did not make the same mistake and Lil is vegging out in the car watching Baby Neptune.
