Winterlong

A busy week at Casa de Lily. LIly was under the weather at the beginning of the week - she had an ear infection and is on a course of antibiotics. She did not enjoy going to the doctor's office at all - it is pretty much the only place that she completely freaks out and throws temper tantrums. She seems to be feeling much better now.

On Saturday night we visited our friends Kristen and Chris for dinner. Lily was on model behavior and hung out with all the adults way past her bed time and had a great evening. We had a very good time and great dinner.

On Sunday we had a surprise snow storm and Lily had fun playing in the snow. Lots of sledding and moving snow around with her shovel and pail. She also seemed to like lying down in the snow. It was very cute.

Monday started out strong with a busy day at school and a book fair to end the day. Lily got two new books that she picked out herself and then ran herself ragged at home tonight and is fast asleep.

That is all for now. Have good week and enjoy the pics.

Lily also wanted to say hello to new blog readers Poppa Syd and Grandma Essie.

In Between Days

Well we did get some inclement weather which caused a bit of chaos...

Tuesday Lily went to school, but got let out of school early due to the incoming storm. Wednesday morning we woke up to a winter wonderland of ice, lots of ice. While other areas got snow, we mainly got freezing rain. Lily's school was closed (and her Valentines party was canceled), so Mom stayed home while Dad headed off to work. Unfortunately at about 9:30 a.m., we lost power. As this had never happened before, we didn't know if it was going to come right back on or not - well in this case it was not! With no electricity, Mom and Lily spent the day playing with stickers, playdoh, dress-up, games, and coloring. Fortunately, the gas fireplace worked so the house stayed relatively warm. By late afternoon though, we knew that staying home overnight was not an option as it was getting colder in the house and it was freezing outside. Dad came home from work, we went to get some dinner, came home to the dark, packed up some clothes, and trekked to Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom's for the night. While Mom and Dad headed off to work Thursday morning, Lily stayed home with Grandma Gail for some playtime. Lily and Grandma Gail picked Mom up from the metro, and Dad headed home to check on the status of the house. He got home and there was no power but as he was packing up a few things, the power came back on. Thus, the power was off for about 34 hours, and the temp in the house got down to 48 degrees. In any event, we got home Thursday night.

Lily went to school on Friday so she could hand out all of her Valentines and share Mom's cookies that had been made for the canceled Valentines party. Saturday, we ran errands, played with some toys, and then had dinner and dessert with John, Michelle, Cole and Hayley. Sunday was spent playing with lots of toys and playing dress-up. Monday, Lily got a haircut, where she only complained a bit, and later had to visit the doctor due to an ear infection - let's just say she was happy to leave the doctor's office. We are looking forward to a quiet week with lots of power.

Enjoy all of the pics!!

P.S. Happy Belated Birthday to Bubbie and Grandma Essie!!

You Rascal You

During the week Lily opened some early Valentine surprises courtesy of Donna & Stephen which included lots of stickers, Dora paraphernalia, and big girl underwear (Lily is doing pretty well with potty training, and wearing her big girl underwear is just around the corner). She also was treated to some stickers from Bubbie.

Lily spent lots of time over the weekend playing with stickers and coloring, and making some Valentines. Saturday, while Mom and Dad went shopping and out to dinner with friends Erin and Rob, Lily went to Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom's house. She enjoyed playing with the dollhouse that Mom and her aunts played with when they were little, and the highlight of the visit was a trip to the indoor pool. She had tons of fun running into the water, and floating on her back. She also received fun Valentine presents including a shirt, fleece, and pink frog - thanks GG & GT.

Sunday Lily was a trooper and watched some dvds in the car while Mom and Dad drove around looking for some single family homes - no immediate plans to move, we'll keep you posted. Later, Lily and Mom got in a nice long nap, and the rest of the day was spent playing with toys and stickers.

Monday brought a special treat - a children's book called 'Cat in the Tree' (written by John Archambault) that was beautifully illustrated by cousin Stephanie - or as Lily calls it "Tebby's book."

While we anxiously await to see what whether we will actually get any snow tonight per the forecast, enjoy the pics!

Dolphin's Smile

So Lily survived a weekend alone with her Dad. Here is a rundown of the weekend ...

Marcy left on Thursday and Lily immediately had a traumatic incident at school. Lil has gotten very good at going to the potty and asked her teacher to go Thursday morning. Well apparently right before she went in, a little boy in another class did not make it to the bathroom and created a little puddle on the floor ... which Lily proceeded to slip in .. flat on her back with her hair landing in the mess (fortunately no injuries, just a little shocked). Her clothes were soaked so she had to change into her spare outfit, except that she did not want to put her backup shirt on. So now she has a cute shirt from the school ... that we are not giving back.

On to Friday... a lot less traumatic. Just a fun day at school followed up a dinner with Dad.

Saturday was a busy day. Lily accompanied Dad to get a haircut. Initially she was a bit concerned that she was getting her hair cut but she calmed down. Then Dad and Lily went to Dad's office so that he could gather some things together as he starts a new job later this week - congrats Dad!! Then off to the Aquarium! Fish, and birds and most importantly DOLPHINS. Lily loved the dolphin show and now she runs around saying "Dolphin jump pool." I think that Lily is actually considering becoming a dolphin now.

Sunday we were off to see friends Donna and Dave and their kids Sean and James. Lily was a bit overwhelmed by all the activity as Sean and James are very busy but Lil had a good time playing with them once she got used to the pace. Then we were back home for an afternoon nap and the unending wait for Marcy to come home. Around 7:30 the world returned to normal when Mom reappeared.

That's all. We are looking forward to a nice quiet weekend at home. Pics and video below.
