Lend Me Your Comb

Hello everyone. All is going well, just another busy week. Lily is growing so fast and she is eating like she has a tapeworm (over 5 ounces per bottle).

Marcy and I are doing well. It is hard to believe that we have had her for seven weeks. On one hand it seems like a really short period of time on the other hand, it is hard to remember what life was like before her ... except at 3 a.m.

Lily is very excited about this week's election. She has endorsed the Kerry/Edwards ticket and with new electronic voting here she may even get to push the buttons! We are starting her off on this democratic process stuff early.

Anyway, that is all. Bonus Halloween pictures are coming soon. I would promise them by a certain date but that always seems to backfire.

Hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for stopping by.

Who needs sleep?

Apparently not Lily. We are the proud parents of the the child insomniac. Well that's not quite true, she sleeps really well, just on an every other night schedule. Her new thing is waking up about an hour after her three a.m. feeding and then wanting to be held. This is the fun part of parenting, right? Our complaints really are pretty small and all in all things are going really well; we know from others that we are quite lucky with how easy she has been. She eats well, has no reflux or spit up and most of the time she is pretty easy going ... knock on wood. Marcy is doing an amazing job with her and is a really patient and fun Mom.

Since I went another week without updating today will be a SUPER update with many pictures from the week. Here is the week in review:

Saturday we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house (we are going to have to come with other nicknames since both sets of parents are currently Grandma and Grandpa ... suggestions anyone? I kind of like Grandpa Mo but Grandma Phyl might not sound right even if it reads properly ...). We weighed Lily again and she seems to be over nine pounds now and is just over 21 inches. We all went out to dinner @ Clyde's which was very successful ... Marcy had pasta, I had lobster and Lily had formula but she said it was a great vintage. She slept right through dinner and woke just about when it was time leave. It seems that we will be allowed back there.

On Monday Marcy's Uncle Chris and his ten-month old daughter Sara, who live in Louisville, KY stopped by on their way into to town to see Marcy's Grandmother. Lily and Sarah had some quality time together and compared notes about being newborns.
On Thursday Marcy and Lily went to Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom's house for the day because Aunt Kelly was in town from San Francisco. Good thing that she (Kelly) has so many weddings back east so she can get to see Lily on a regular basis. Kelly has been to more people's weddings than the total number of people I have ever met in my life.

That is about it. Today we have a few errands to run and then everyone is coming over here tomorrow night for dinner. I am sure there will be lot's of pictures and I will try to post them before next weekend.

Thanks for checking in on us.

Hanging out with Granpa.

Lily, the center of attention, gobbling up the love.

Getting comfortable on Grandma's lap.

Lounging around with her Cousin Sara.

She wears her sunglasses at night. Thanks to our friends Michelle and Jon, Lily and her friend Hayley have the same cool shades.

With Aunt Kelly. She was a lot smaller last time Kelly was in town (when she was born).

Awww, Lily and Kelly posing for the camera.

She loves wearing her sunglasses. She thinks it keeps her paparazzi-esque Mom from taking pictures. Mom "The Photographer" will not be discouraged by some kiddie shades.

With her cool rattle mittens from Aunt Tracy. They will help keep her hands warm in the rough :) Washington winter.

Easy on the Weekend

So posting is coming along slowly ... weekdays are just so hard to get to the computer. Between laundry, bottles, feedings, quality time and oh, soothing a screaming baby it is hard to sit in the basement post pictures. But I am trying.

All is going well. Lily seems to be over the whole sleeping thing and really digging the being held thing so she has been quite an handful this week. We still love her though ... for now :)

She is eating well and seems to be getting on a schedule (knock on wood). Marcy is doing well and Gypsy seems to enjoy showing Lily, by example, how to do things that dogs do.

Enjoy the pictures.

Lily at her first playdate with her friend Hayley. Hayley is one week older than Lily and is really happy about having to make friends with her parent's friend's daughter who is so much younger than her.

They had about enough of sitting in the chair at this point.

This is Lily with Hayley's older brother Cole.

Lily spending some quality time with her Uncle Stan earlier this week. This may have been the first time Stan has seen her awake ... he always seems to arrive just as she is passing out.

One of the few quiet moments around here. The pacifer seems to be a key to getting her calm these days. I am not sure why she doesn't just tell us what she wants.

One last mugshot prior to getting her nails cut for the first time. Since the nail clipping, she has gotten a little less Frankenstein-ish.

From Four Til Late

Things have been crazy busy around here so the frequency of posts has fallen off dramatically. Sorry about that. Between work and Lily, it is hard to get to much time to update. Not to mention, when Marcy is here alone she can't always take pictures since Lily can be such a handful. But keep checking back, I promise to my best to keep you updated.

Since the last post we have had Lily's lunar birthday and today is her one month birthday. She is definitely getting bigger and we are noticing how much more she is filling out her clothes. Not to mention, she has turned into quite a little piggy -- finishing off four ounce bottles (occasionally needing more) left and right and insisting on eating more often than before. If I had to guess, I would wager that she is well beyond eight pounds by now. We decided to keep her birthday a low key affair and Lily seemed to really appreciate the acrobats and circus animals in the backyard that were here just for her.

On Thursday night Lily met her Great Bubbie, Great Aunt Donna, Great Uncle Stephen and Cousin Stephanie who came in from Montreal and New York respectively to meet her. She seemed to impress them and Lily seemed to enjoy all the attention during the weekend.

Everything else is going well. Lily seems to be entering her four week fussy stage -- she is not sleeping well and seems to always want to be held. The former is a definite problem and the latter is too when you have do anything else around the house other than hold her, including going to bathroom. Her mother is a saint for dealing with her during the week when all alone . Marcy decided to try out the Baby Bjorn today (now that is back from its manufacturer's recall - instilling much confidence in the product) and that seems to be a long term solution. Well long term meaning until Lily goes off to college or decides that she does not want to be seen at the mall being held by her parents.

So other than a little more sleep - I mean come on, what does she expect from me as far as entertainment between 4:22 and 5:09 am (at which point Marcy came in, rocked her for 10 minutes, gave up, brought Lily to our bed where she promptly passed out) - and a little less formula regurgitation, there is not much more we could ask for. Okay, maybe we could ask for a college scholarship or something but I am too tired to be greedy.

I hear Lily screaming now upstairs ... must time to eat or time to have more gas time. Enjoy the pictures and sorry for the delay. Pics from Lily's first playdate with her friend Hayley will be posted soon, so check back. I promise.

Just for ratio sake, that is her whole hand hanging on to my index finger. She is still kind of small ... her lungs are very big though.

With Cousin Stephanie. Important to note that Stephanie, like Lily, had no eyebrows when she was born. They seem to have grown in well.

Great Aunt Donna playing with Lily and her new pony. Just don't tell her that is not what a real pony looks like.

Splish Splash

Okay. I have tried to post twice and have lost both so I give up.

Here are the pictures ... that is all you care about anyway.

Everyting else is going well. Lily is pigging out, eating over three ounces every three hours.

Marcy is doing great and is proving herself to be an incredibly patient mom.

More to come later in the week.
