The Electric Co.

The summer is rolling by ... kindergarten for Lily is but four weeks away! We are falling down on blog duties in this ridiculous heat and we only have a couple of pictures to share this week. That, however, does not mean that it was not a busy week around here.

Let's recap ...

Monday - I can't remember what we did. I think it was a normal school day.

Tuesday - A school day plus a night at the pool. With Casey, Tracy and Kelly.

Wednesday - A normal school day plus dinner out with the family.

Thursday - School plus dinner with Grandpa Maurice and Grandma Phyllis.

Friday - A half day at school, lot's of pool time - including a no cook Friday night. Lily started jumping off the diving board on Friday. All by herself and swimming all the way to the edge. It is fantastic - she is officially entered fishdom. It was quite hot so the pool was great (it was still 93 degrees at 11 pm on Friday).

Saturday - T-ball played in a microwave oven. The field must have been a 100 degrees plus humidity but the kids stayed hydrated and had a great time. We finished off Saturday night with dinner with friends Andy and Jenn and then ice cream.

Sunday - Marcy and I went for a bike ride and Grandpa Maurice came over to visit and take the kids to breakfast. Everyone had a great time out and about. The afternoon was spent at the pool Lily's classmate Pierce belongs to. Lily continued her diving board jumping and Jack started his diving career - he leapt off three times to Marcy who was waiting to catch him. Lot's of excitement.

At the end of the day we had a mammoth storm that has knocked out power everywhere. Most of our neighbors, my work, the kids' school and the rest of the county is without power - about 2/3 of the area. Still. 30 hours later. They are saying that some will not get power back until Wednesday. Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice are without power and are roughing it a hotel. It is quite something around here!

Anyway that is all ... until Marcy reads this and adds in what I left out! :)

Lily decided that it was Julie's birthday on Saturday. So we had a party. Julie is sitting down on the left.

Gone to the Movies

Marcy had her annual work trip this past week so the kids and I had our annual visit from Aunt Donna. We had a busy week without Marcy around. The kids had half days at school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday they stayed home and went to the pool with Donna, Grandma Gail, Aunt Kelly, Aunt Tracy and cousin Casey. Everyone had a good time and there was a lot of jumping into the pool by Jack.

On Thursday night Cousin Emilie came to town for a visit. On Friday, Lily, Jack, Donna and Emilie went to see Toy Story 3. Not such positive reviews but it was Jack's first trip to the movie theatre. On Friday night, Marcy came back to town to many cheers from the children. On Saturday, we had tee-ball and Lily had her biggest crowd there yet to cheer her on with Donna, Emilie and Kelly joining her brother and parents. After tee-ball, Donna headed home, leaving lots of art projects and fun behind. Emilie headed out shortly after and things returned a bit to normal.

We finished off the weekend with a visit to Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom's for dinner with the who family. A busy weekend came to an end. Unfortunately, our camera did not make an appearance this week but fortunately, Cousin Emilie and Aunt Kelly took a bunch of pics for us.

See you next week ...

The Water is Wide

We have hit the summer in full stride. There was no post last week because we were away at Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom's lake house. Let's catch up ...

Before we left, Lily finished up her swim lessons and Jack finished his first month of pre-school. Both are doing very well and are having an enjoyable summer. There has been lots of pool time, friend time and hot weather.

At the lake, Lily and Jack got to spend time with cousins Casey, Alli, Alex and Davis, Aunt Tracy, Uncle Stan, Aunt Kelly, Great Uncle Mike, Great Jeannie and Ivan, Frisco and Daisy. There was also a visit by cousins Wes, Trisha, Colin and Leah. The kids had a great time playing in the water, eating too many chocolate chip cookies and boat rides. Overall, a great week of fun.

On to the pictures and video ...

Aunt Donna is here for the week while Marcy is away for work. The kids helped do her hair yesterday afternoon while Marcy slipped away.
