In My Tree

We had a busy and fun week/weekend as always, have been enjoying some nice and some rainy weather, and, yes, we seem obsessed with weather these days b/c Lily and Jack are all about wearing shorts and crocs and are disappointed when they actually have to wear long sleeves or jackets.

Earlier in the week, Dad and Mom went to an open house at Lily's elementary school, right now there will be two K classes with a max of 18 students, but there will be less if they have enough kids for a third K class, crossing our fingers. At the end of May, we will attend orientation with Lily, which she is looking forward to.

On Friday, Grandma Gail came over for a visit and lunch. Later, Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice came over to babysit so Mom and Dad could go see the Caps lose. :( On Saturday morning, we woke up expecting rain, but it was a gorgeous morning so Lily got to enjoy some soccer. On Saturday afternoon, we had a visit from Sarah and Derek, who are expecting a baby in September, and were probably questioning their decision after witnessing the chaos in our house. We were also joined by Purnima, Selvan, and baby Sowmya - Lily and Jack are looking forward to hanging with Sowmya when she gets a little older. Sunday was a day of fun and play in the basement and outside, and we capped off the weekend with chinese food with Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice.

We hope you thoroughly enjoy the video Lily took below, that is a pretty good representation of what goes on daily, maybe this will become a weekly bit! We really need to get some video of Jack talking, he is speaking in full sentences, and essentially provides a running commentary all day "Who is singing Mommy?" "What is that back there?" "Who is down there?" Who are you talking to Mommy?" We are not only amazed at the amount of words and length of sentences, but also the proper usage. Again, it helps that his sister also talks a mile a minute, and also provides a running commentary, especially when she is watching hockey with Dad. ;) We will try to take video of Jack this week!

Lily and Jack want to send out special birthday kisses and hugs to Aunt Tracy who is celebrating her birthday on Thursday and cousin Casey who turns 2 on Saturday! We will celebrate with you next week! Also, belated birthday wishes to Uncle Stephen whose birthday was last week!

Cut Your Hair

Not much to report this week. We had a quiet week and weekend but we are gearing up for a busy spring!

On Wednesday, Lily, Jack, Marcy and Daisy visited Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom to celebrate Tom's birthday. On Friday, Jack and Marcy and Lily had a visit from friends Erin and Holden. On Saturday there was soccer, Jack got a haircut and Lily had time with neighborhood friend Madeline.

Sunday was filled with a few errands and then a nice dinner with friends Donna & Dave and Sean, James and Charlotte. Daisy had a chance to play with her sister Ginger and came home exhausted.

That is all, just a few pics this week.

What Goes On

We had a busy, fun week and weekend...

On Thursday, Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice came over for a visit and dinner. On Friday, Lily, Jack and Mom took a metro ride downtown so Lily could get a haircut at Mom's hairdresser. The train ride was initially fun, until we got stuck in a tunnel for about half an hour, thankfully we had food and drink that we (illegally) consumed. Post-haircut, we had a quick lunch and had a much more pleasant train ride home! Lily then went to school for a bit and we joined her for a Mexican fiesta - one of her classmate's father cooked everyone at the school a delicious dinner - the kids did some singing and then running around, Jack had no problem joining in! On Saturday, Lily had soccer and continues to run very fast up and down the field, we are working on more contact with the ball. We spent the rest of the day enjoying the spring weather, which included a bike ride with friend Madeleine. On Sunday morning, Mom ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in DC and Dad and the kids went to Lily's classmate's birthday party at a park where they rode the train and carousel. We finished out the weekend with a long walk and bike ride to the creek and playground.

Lily and Jack want to send out special birthday wishes to Grandpa Tom who is celebrating his birthday on Wednesday!

Alone Together

Lily and Jack had a busy week. After two days at school and with Beatrice, Lily and Jack spent some quality time with Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom while Marcy and I took a bit of a vacation to Aruba. Everyone had a great time but we are all glad to be back home together.

Lily and Jack had a great time with their grandparents and had visits to the local playground, a park with a carousel and train and they had a great Easter Egg hunt. Since we weren't there for the festivities, we don't have many details to report. That being said, we understand that Lily and Jack got along great and that they were on their best behavior. Jack continues to talk a ton and Lily is a great big sister.

On to this week's installment ... All photo credits to Grandpa Tom. There are a lot of videos to review ... we may have another post with some video clips later in the week.
