Finally, a quiet weekend at home wherein Mom and Dad were able to recover from being a little under the weather. On Thursday, Mom and Lily both played hooky from work and school, respectively, and spent a little quality time together running errands and playing in the backyard. On Friday, Lily had her gymnastics class and continues to have a good time climbing, tumbling, and somersaulting. The weekend was spent catching up on some chores and playtime in the backyard and basement. Enjoy the few pics we took!
Lily has been working on a few school projects to include listing some of her favorite things, attempting drawings of such favorite things, and trying to write her first name - she is making progress in the drawing and tracing fronts! According to Lily, her favorite thing to do with her family is "stay in a hotel" (hard evidence that we have been traveling way too much this summer ;)); her favorite color is pink; her favorite story is "Blue's Clues Naptime Book"; her favorite television program is "Backyardigans"; her favorite food is "pasta and corn"; her favorite toy is her "new tent." In her "Five Senses Book" her favorite things to look at are "Daddy and Mommy" and "Gypsy" - she drew each of us and Daddy resembles a pacman ghost. ;) Her favorite things to touch are "rocks" and "crayons." Her favorite things to smell are "cupcakes" and "flowers." Her favorite things to listen to are "Baby Beluga song" and "Row, Row, Row Your Boat song." Her favorite things to taste are "chocolate candy" and "corn" - which is somewhat revealing since she actually dislikes chocolate at this point in her life. ;)
Onto the events of the week...Friday Lily went to her second gymnastics class and is actually performing a pretty perfect somersault and was complimented by one of the other mothers - all that training is getting some results! ;) We came home to a brand new swingset which hopefully we will get some pics of in the next few weeks! On Friday Lily had some pizza with friends Sean, James and new baby Charlotte.
On Saturday, Lily went to her first soccer class. She was all set with her new ball, shinguards, and socks - unfortunately the league (if it can be called that) is a little disorganized so play was pretty limited - we are hoping for more activity the next time around.
We headed to the lake Saturday afternoon for a visit with Grandpa Tom, Grandma Gail, Aunt Tracy, Uncle Stan, and Lois (Stan's Mom). On Sunday, Lisa (Stan's sister), Dave (BIL), Ashylynn and Morgan joined us for lots of activity as you will see below. Ashlynn, Morgan and Lily kept very busy despite the somewhat chilly weather.
A very busy week has ended with Lily turning the big "3"!
On Friday, Lily had her first gymnastics class, she absolutely loved it and cannot wait to go back. Grandma Gail and Aunt Tracy came to watch, and Lily was so proud of all of her moves! After gymnastics, a special delivery arrived with Lily's new bedroom furniture including her big girl bed! Friday night, Lily went to sleep pretty well in her new bed. About an hour after she had fallen asleep we heard a small cry and a thump. We ran in and she was curled up in a ball fast asleep on the hardwood floor. Of course Mom immediately thought she must have a concussion and frantically woke her up but Lily just gave a few grunts as if to say 'Leave me alone, I'm sleeping.' Thus, all was fine! Essentially, we just had a malfunction with the bed bar which we had quickly put together, but it was easily fixed and we have had no further falling incidents. Lily also woke up a few times on Friday night, unrelated to the fall, but since then she has slept like a champ, and is definitely taking advantage of all of the room of her double bed i.e. she rolls all over the place!
On Saturday, we celebrated Lily's birthday with Grandma Gail, Grandpa Tom, Grandma Phyllis, Grandpa Maurice, Hayley, Cole, Mr. John, and Ms. Michelle - the theme was dolphins and Nemo, and we had lots of fun eating "dolphin" cake and jumping from one activity to the next in the freshly painted and organized basement, and playing on the swingset and with her new batting tee outside.
On Sunday, we got to enjoy some time playing with some of the birthday presents, and then had dinner with friends Chris & Kristen who anticipate having their first child any day now!
Monday brought the actual birthday, and Lily shared some cupcakes with her friends at school. Although Lily was initially very shy when someone sang the happy birthday song to her (see video below), as of today she was singing happy birthday to herself and enjoyed all of the many singing phone calls! Enjoy the pics!
P.S. Speaking of birthdays, Lily wants to send out birthday wishes to Cousin Stephanie who is celebrating a birthday tomorrow!
A little gymnastics.
In the birthday tent with Grandpa Maurice. Grandpa Tom also spent some quality time in the tent.

A short week at school, and then we jetted off to Montreal for some fun with Great Aunt Donna, Great Uncle Stephen, Great Bubbie, and cousins Emilie and Stephanie. Lily is becoming an expert traveler, and was great on the way up and the way down!
Our adventures in Montreal included playing with lots of toys and games, swimming in the hotel pool, playing at the park, visiting the Ecomuseum, and picking apples. Lily enjoyed herself immensely going from one activity to the next. Despite no naps and some late nights, she was on her best behavior - likely due to crashing hard when it was time to go to sleep, and even sleeping in a few days!
We are finally back home, and will return to school/work tomorrow. A week from today, Lily will officially turn 3 years old so we anticipate that we will have some party pics, and she also begins gymnastics on Friday! Enjoy the pics!
