East of the Sun

A long holiday weekend has come to an end, after a busy week at school and a fun weekend at the lake.

This week brought some beautiful weather so Lily spent a lot of time on the playground and doing other outdoor activities. Thursday, Lily had her gymnastics show at school, and has very proudly been wearing her medal.

Friday we headed down to the lake to see Grandma Gail, Grandpa Tom, and Ivan (the dog). Let's just say, Lily did not run out of lake activities to partake in. Compared to last year, she has become a lot more independent running from one activity to another - although she is having a difficult time adjusting to all of the lake bugs - i.e. she screams if she sees a knat - we are hoping this is just a short phase. While at the lake, she kept herself entertained on the brand new swing set which also has a slide, teeter totter, and glider; dug around in the turtle sandbox; splashed around in the crocodile pool; enjoyed relaxing on the pontoon; whaling around in the lake; paddling with Grandma Gail; riding on the sea doo with Mom, Dad, and Grandpa Tom; and, even took a ride in the purple tube attached to the sea doo. Her only request while riding the sea doo - "go faster!"

We picked up Gypsy on the way home from the lake, who had her own fun frolicking with Aunt Kaci - Lily was very happy to see Gypsy, holding her paw on the way home - and helped Mom give Gypsy a bath upon returning home.

Time Passes Slowly

Another busy week in the books. The countdown to the move to the new house has begun ... thirty nine days and counting. Fortunately, today we became the owners of only one house as our current digs are sort of under contract - contingent upon an inspection. One less thing to worry about.

The weekend was busy. Lily and Marcy went to the aquarium on Friday to see the fish and the DOLPHIN SHOW! A good time was had by all. Saturday night was dinner with Grandpa Maurice and Grandma Phyllis. Sunday was filled with errands, a bike ride and visits to two different playgrounds!

Why Can't I?

"Why, Mommy, why?" Yes, the continuous 'why' question has officially begun to pretty much everything we say. Sometimes she accepts the explanation as to 'why' but other times she just keeps asking "But, why Mommy?"

On to the week's events...Dad went on a business trip mid-week so Mom, Lily & Gypsy were left to fend for themselves. On Wednesday, Lily and Mom went to the Maryland Zoo with Lily's class. The trip there and back was a bit disastrous due to too much time spent on the bus, and the bus driver getting lost, but the actual time at the zoo was tons of fun. Lily loved all of the animals, and once she looked at one animal, she was already saying "Want to see more animals."

The rest of the week, Lily, Mom and Gypsy got in some good stroller walks enjoying the warm, sunny weather. On these walks, Lily loves to collect flowers i.e. dandelions.

On Friday, Lily and Mom met up with Mrs. Michelle and Hayley for a walk around a lake, some play time at the playground, and some lunch, before heading home for a nice, long nap. The rest of the day, Lily helped Mom plant some flowers in front of the house, and then got in some water/sand table play time.

Saturday, Dad returned. The rest of the weekend was spent playing outside, and running some errands. Mom's Day was pretty low key, and both Mom and Lily got in a well-deserved lengthy afternoon nap.

Family Snapshot

A whirlwind week. Busy days at school and then a great visit from the Montreal contingent. A visit from Bubbie and Donna and Stephen and Emmie and Stephie meant a whole lot of attention and fun for the weekend. Bed times were ignored and the snacks were plentiful.

On Friday we all went to the favorite Italian joint for some dinner. Saturday was a visit by the new house ... 56 days and counting ... with a nice barbque dinner and lots of play time in between. Sunday was more playtime and book reading and block building until everyone went home.

We finished up the weekend with some shoe shopping for Lily - cool new Nikes and sandles and some scooter and bike riding and playground romping.

Some pics are below but we did a pretty bad job of keeping the camera within easy reach. Somehow Bubbie managed to avoid the digital camera and Stephen has continued a streak of not showing up in any of our pictures!
