Monster Mash

Update:

An extremely busy week has come to an end with a grand finale of Halloween fun!!

The week began with Lily coming down with a cold, resulting in her staying home from school on Wednesday and Thursday. Fortunately, she was well enough to go to school on Friday for fun in the school pumpkin patch. She came home with a pumpkin, and multiple handmade decorations, including a spider.

On Saturday, we went to see friends Tiffany, Steven, Amy & JJ, and Lily got to play with Jack and Grace. On Sunday, we went to the local pumpkin patch, and also visited with some calves and goats. Later that day, Grandma Gail, Grandpa Tom, Aunt Tracy, Uncle Stan, Grandma Phyllis, and Grandpa Maurice came over for some pumpkin carving, cookie decorating, and a belated birthday dinner for Dad at the local Japanese steakhouse. Needless to say, Lily was not a fan of the chef or the bursts of flames.

One funny story from the weekend ... Lily really loves having her books read to her but sometimes it is just not the right time - like Sunday monring at 7:00 after waking up at 5:30 (due to daylight savings). So, after finishing her breakfast, Lily really wanted her Dora books read to her but neither of us had finished eating breakfast yet. I suggested to Lily that Gypsy could read her books to her so she gathered them all up and brought them over to be read. Gypsy wanted no part and ran upstairs but Lily would not be deterred and slowly followed her upstairs with her books. I am not sure how story time went as by the time I got them up the two of them had moved on to other games.

Over the weekend we attempted to have Lily try on her chicken costume but she had absolutely no interest. We even made a last minute trip to Target for a Plan B fairy outfit. The chicken suit was sent with Lily to school this morning, and by the time Mom and Dad arrived at school for the parade, Ms. Heather and Ms. Sandy had managed to get her into the suit, albeit without the chicken head - we won't question the methods used.;) Initially, she did not appear to be the happiest chicken, but by the time trick or treating began around the school and neighboring stores, she really got into it. She was at the front of the pack asking for a treat, and seemed to finally understand what all this Halloween madness was about. As her parade at school was so successful and not wanting to risk having to make a second attempt to get her in the chicken suit, we kept her in the suit and began trick or treating promptly at dusk. She made out with lots of candy, and even some playdoh. In the end, we think Lily had a fun Halloween.

Next week brings a move to her new classroom, and swimming lessons!!

Enjoy the pics!!

Book Review

Thanks to the balmy weather this past week, Lily went on a nature walk through the neighborhood with Mom and Gypsy. Lily loves to look at the birds, pick flowers, and likes to smell everything, including flowers, pumpkins and rocks - yes, rocks.

This weekend Mom and Dad went to a dinner for Grandma Phyllis so Lily got to hang with Cole and Hayley. She apparently went to bed with minimal problems - as I'm sure she was exhausted from running laps around the house with Cole and Hayley- and Mom and Dad came to pick her up a few hours later.

Sunday, we just hung around the house, played with lots of toys, and watched the Redskins get destroyed by the Colts.

Enjoy the pics!!

P.S. Lily wants to send out special birthday wishes, hugs and kisses to Dad!!

Lazy Afternoon

Where to begin? Lily had a good week at school, working on lots of fun art projects and she enjoys her music class too. We had a busy weekend here with anniversaries to celebrate (our 4th) and birthday parties to go to (Lily's classmate Gavin).

On Saturday morning we went to Gavin's 2nd birthday party where Lil got to play with Gavin and other classmates Nicholas and Jacob. A good time and lots of cake was had by all. Needless to say, messes were made with icing. I can't really remember what we did the rest of Saturday but I think that we just hung around and played with toys.

On Sunday we went to the local garden center - they were having their fall festival with pumpkin bowling, hay rides, pony rides and face painting. Lil was not so into the ponies or face painting but she liked the tractor pulling ride.

Pictures below. See you next week.

Okay, so this is not Lily but from a distance I thought it was. Plus, Lily would not get on the pony so this is what Lily would like if she was on a pony. Also, this girl's name could be Lily, we don't know for sure.

This is the second trip on the pumpkin ride. Lily was done after one go round, but Marcy just wanted to go again so Lily indulged.

Where did you sleep last night?

An extremely busy long weekend has come to an end...

Lily had a good week at school, she completed lots of art projects and decorating for Halloween.

Friday, Lily visited with Aunt Kelly (in town for the weekend), Grandma Gail & Grandpa Tom, before heading over to Grandpa Maurice's & Grandma Phyllis' for a sleepover - Mom and Dad went to an engagement party in D.C. Lily ate well and slept well on her Dora bed. Mom and Dad picked Lil up around noon on Saturday, only to take her to Grandma Gail & Grandpa Tom's house for another sleepover - Mom and Dad went to a wedding in Leesburg. After a packed day of mainly playing inside due to the rain, Lily went to bed early, and woke up to some sunshine and outdoor play on the swing and her tricycle. Mom and Dad got back early afternoon, and hung out for the rest of the day with Aunt Kelly, and Aunt Tracy and Uncle Stan (who just got back from Germany). After a fun-filled day, we finally made our way home. Fortunately, Mom had off today, so Lily got to hang around the house and decorate for Halloween.

Can't recall if this has been reported but Lily's latest phrase is "Oh No!" whenever she sees anything out of order or wrong - she is somewhat of a drama queen. ;)

Back to school tomorrow...

You're Going To Make Lonesome When You Go

Busy, busy weekend. Lil finished up a great week at school and then had a nice day Friday with Marcy. They ran some errands and then prepared for Lil's big sleepover at Grandma Maurice's and Grandma Phyllis' house - Marcy and I had dinner out with friends and a show. We missed her but she apparently didn't really seem to mind that we left her. She had a great time with G & G and is looking forward to a reprise this weekend when Marcy and I are out of pocket again.

On Saturday we visited with John and MIchelle and Hayley and Cole for a birthday dinner for John. Lily had fun running around with Hayley and Cole. Then on Sunday, Marcy and I went to the Redskin's game so John and Michelle were kind enought to babysit Lil. She had a great time with them and would probably be happy to move in with Hayley. They have a great time together.

Oh, and for all the bad things I was thinking about Casio and our camera last week, I take them back. Four days after sending in the camera to be fixed, it was back in our hands and working like new. So enjoy the pics and video. Until next week.
