Words of Wisdom

Exciting news, Lily completed a full week of afternoon naps at school without a pacy, and this also included only taking one nap, she is essentially done with the morning nap, and goes to sleep around 1pm for about two hours. While at school, upon going down for a nap, apparently she chatted a bit and fooled around by throwing her blanket out of the crib, but no major fussing and slept around 2 hours. Mom and Dad are encouraged but have not tried the no pacy trick at home, we will test the waters in the next few weeks.

We had our meeting at Lily's school to find out the details of her new classroom - the big move takes place this week. Along with sleeping on a cot without a pacy, she will have playground time and her day will be more structured, we will keep you posted on the fun activities in store. They actually have a small toilet in the classroom so we are expecting that Lily will be potty trained shortly...;)

Lily got her own kitchen set this weekend, courtesy of the 'rents - no occassion, she just loves the kitchen at her school and we decided it was a necessity and too long to wait for her birthday. No question, Lily LOVES the kitchen. It has a fridge, stovetop, oven, microwave, phone, washer/dryer, and ironing board. She also has her own shopping cart which she loves to push around. The ball pit has been relegated to the basement b/c we are essentially out of floor space for all of Lily's gear!!

This weekend, Dad hosted his baseball draft at our house, so Mom, Lily & Gypsy were sent to Grandma & Grandpa's for an overnight Sat visit. As always, Lily was very busy playing with toys, the dogs (Ivan & Gypsy), and dancing with her grandparents - we got some great video. Lily LOVES to dance. Sunday, Lily enjoyed watching George Mason (local team) make it into the final four, and kept busy playing with all of her toys.

Lily's vocabulary has expanded to saying: dog, duck, cow - moo, mommy, daddy, hi, bye, more, boom, book, bird, nose, blue, ball. I know she says other words but I cannot recall them at the moment. She apparently said 'Emma' at school this week - she is the only other girl in her class. Also we think she said Grandpa this weekend. Today she said 'Bye Daddy.' She can also identify her nose, mouth, tongue, head/hair, eyes, tummy, feet, shoes, and diaper - we are working on the ears. She has also become Mommy's little helper by gathering laundry, closing and starting the dishwasher, and pressing the green Yes button at the grocery store on the credit card machine. She also loves to clean her placemat and the floor with paper towels.

Warm weather is just around the corner so we hope to get some outside pictures soon. We will keep you posted on her first week in the new classroom and Dad has Lily all by himself next weekend, while Mom gets a weekend at the spa, so should be interesting!! ;)

Enjoy the pics!!

Tangled Up In Blue

Since last week's entry, Lily has had a very busy week. Tuesday she stayed home with Auntie Donna and they had lots of fun drawing, playing with stickers, and play-do. They also made a trip to the playground and took a walk with her "baby" in the stroller. Unfortunately we don't have any pics to post on the blog. Wednesday Lily stayed home again from school and spent some more quality time with Auntie Donna (while Mom attempted to work from home) before we sadly took her to the airport to head back home. Lily wants to thank her Auntie Donna for coming to play!! Thursday it was back to school and her friends were very excited to see her and hear about all of her escapades.

Friday, Lily celebrated St. Patrick's Day by wearing green - pics below. That night Mom and Dad had a rehearsal dinner to attend, so Grandpa Maurice and Grandma Phyllis came over to babysit. Lots of fun was had, and they ate a fine meal at Italian Market - apparently Lily really liked the lasagna.

Saturday morning we headed to Grandpa Tom's and Grandma Gail's for an overnight visit so Mom and Dad could attend Tiffany and Steven's wedding - congrats to them!! Lily had a very busy and fun time with the grandparents, and slept through the night thankfully. Mom and Dad enjoyed a rare Sunday morning of sleeping in!! After almost 12 hours of sleep, Lily got in some morning play and took a mid-morning nap with Grandpa in his chair - no doubt, both were snoring - and as evidenced by the pics below also took a snoozer on Dad later in the afternoon.

Lily met her new classmate Bradley today, he is only a month younger and has very red hair. He officially begins on Monday when they move to the new classroom. She took her first nap today at school without a pacifier with only minimal whining. Mom and Dad, however, have not been so brave to go "pacy" free, maybe in a few weeks.

Some recent developments: We forgot to mention last week that Lily's lower incisors broke through. Lily loves Blue's Clues, and dances and points to the television saying "Bue" (no 'L') when she wants to watch. She loves to brush her teeth, well she at least loves to hold her toothbrush but won't put it in her mouth, she just brushes her mouth, and screams when we try to brush her teeth. She also enjoys taking her 'baby" for a walk in the stroller, and feeds her with a spoon while baby is sitting in Lily's booster seat - we don't have a name for 'baby" yet...

Enjoy the few pics we took, and I think some video will be added at some point...have a good week!!

Man Gave Names to All The Animals

A great weekend all around is in the books. Visits from Aunt Donna, who is staying until Wednesday, and Cousins Em and Steph down from the Big City for the weekend. The weather was fabulous and we took full advantage by heading to the National Zoo. Unfortunately, Lil fell asleep after about an hour of strolling around. Anyway, lots of quality Great Aunt and Cousin time.

Yesterday was highlighted by a detour to Toys R Us where Lil got some new, fun toys. She seems to really enjoy playing with her new Cabbage Patch Kid from Emilie. It is hit ... true to form, she likes taking the baby's socks off and then tries to put them back on.

Other than that, not much new to report. No full sentences or potty training yet. Maybe next week. Marcy and I have a wedding coming up this weekend so Lil is going to get lots of Grandparent time. Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice are coming over on Friday to babysit and then Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom are hosting a sleepover on Saturday night - I hear smores are on the agenda.

On to the pictures ... we did not take that many this week (Em & Steph really were here to visit) and we will be sure to get a few good ones of Aunt Donna before she heads home. Video next week for sure.

Children in Bloom

So the week started off like any other but ended with a bang ... Lily had a normal week at school -- she is getting ready to move to her new classroom in less than a month - the land of no cribs or pacifiers. We'll see how that goes!

The busy weekend kicked off with Lily and Marcy's trip downtown to see friend Tara and her new puppy Mackie -- see video below.

Saturday our friend from law school Stacy and her husband John came to vist with their three month old son Ian ... he seems so little compared to Lil! He was very cute and very well behaved. Later, Lil's friend Hayley came over for dinner and some play time. They had a great time playing with all of Lil's toys and hanging out.

Sunday was capped off with visit by Marcy's family, including Lil's little cousin Sara from Louisville. Great Uncle Chris, Grandma Gail, Grandpa Tom and Yellow Grandma all came over for an afternoon visit.

That is all for now ... more next week ... special guest visit by Aunt Donna and Cousins Emilie and Stephanie coming up over the weekend. It is also supposed to be 70 on the weekend so a trip to the zoo might be in order.

Update: the videos seem to be loading a bit slowly tonight ... check back later they will show up eventually.
