Hot Fun In The Summertime

Earlier post that usual this week since I have a softball game Monday night and we are going to the Orioles' game on Tuesday. We have a nice long weekend as we leave for the lake on Thursday night and are there until Tuesday. It sounds like most of Marcy's family will be there so it shoud be a fun weekend.

For those of you who may have missed the bonus post from Thursday, Lily figured out how to add video to the blog. Check it out below as Lil downs some green beans like they are going out of style. We have two clips tonight and the usual compliment of pictures.

Lil had another great week and continues to grow like a weed. She suffered her first mosquito bite -- on her cheek- but it is already starting to go away. She had a good week at school where she is teaching the other kids how to crawl. She went to the dog park on Friday with Gypsy and today we went up to Baltimore for the afternoon. Lily had a chance to se a bit of city life and saw some really large and colorful crabs -- this year's public art project. Needless to say, after such a busy week she is sleeping well at night.

That's about it for this week. Have a good Fourth. The next update will be in middle of next week when we get back.

We went to Baltimore for the afternoon today -- it was about 1000 degrees and humid -- and Lil had a chance to hang out with a new friend. This summer Baltimore has decorated crabs all over the city.

Video Killed The Radio Star

Well, this blog, a little more than nine months in the making, takes a bold step further into the 21st century today. Lily has decided that it is time to add video to her publishing resume and so with a bonus post for the week, here it is.

This our first run but ideally, you should just hit the play button on the bottom left hand side of the video box and it should play automatically. Please let me know if you have any hiccups along the way.

Without further delay... her first blog video clip feature: Lily and The Green Beans, guest starring Gypsy (as the dog hoping to be in the right place at the right time).

Father to a Sister of Thought

We have survived our first week with a crawling baby and are no worse for wear. Baby gates are now up and are stopping Lil in her tracks as she tries to escape down the
stairs. Safety caps are on the plugs and latches are on the cabinets as well. Now we just have to stop laying knives and open pill bottles around.

It was a busy week that started out with Marcy suffering from the world's worst cold and finished up with a nice first father's day. In the news category, Lily had her nine month check up on Friday and all was well. She is now 19 lbs, 14 oz. and 28 inches long. She is in the fiftieth percentile for weight and in the seventy fifth percentile for height. Only one shot this time and she was a trooper - no tears.

On Saturday our friends John and Michelle came over for a bar-b-que with their two kids - Hayley and Cole. Lily had a good time playing with them and watched what a good eater Hayley was. She appeared inspired and has now had one of her jars of food replaced by finger foods that she is actually eating rather than dropping on her lap.

On Sunday we went to Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice's house for a father's day lunch and Marcy's parents, fresh from a lake weekend, and Aunt Tracy and Uncle Stan were over at our place for dinner last night for father's day part two.

That is all for now. We have this weekend around the house and then we are off next Thursday for the July 4th Weekend Lake Gaston Extravaganza -- we should be able to get some neat pictures of Lily lighting some fireworks (just kidding). Also, the rarely photog-ed Aunt Kelly will be in town later next week for some quality time with her favorite niece.

She Moves On

We have forward movement -- very fast and very determined forward movement. Lily is not messing around anymore with backwards crawling or rolling over - she is just moving fast. It is no longer possible to leave her in one spot, visit the loo and return to see in her in the same spot. She won't be there. Last night I was in the kitchen preparing bottles and I plopped with down with her toys. Then I watched as she crawled all the way into the kitchen in about ten seconds. We are going shopping for baby gates this weekend.

We spent the weekend up in New Jersey celebrating the birthdays of Poppa Syd - 93 and Cousin Robyn - 21. A fun weekend was had by all, except Marcy who has decided to come down with the mother of all summer colds. I think she is feeling a bit better tonight but she stayed home from work today to try to recuperate. Lily and I are doing our best to make her feel better.

That's about it. Have a good week everyone.

So Nice (Summer Samba)

Well the heat has arrived. Lily has been introduced to the summer Washington temperatures (it was about 90 or so today) and a huge thunderstorm.

Lily will be nine months on Friday. It is amazing how fast time goes. Crawling forward is going well. She doesn't appear to be so interested in moving most times but if really motivated she can hustle over to her choice spot. On Saturday morning she was really motivated to pet Gypsy so she crawled over to where Gypsy was sleeping and started to pet her back. It was very cute.

Gypsy and Lily are starting to be come good friends since Lily has begun dropping food from her high chair on purpose. Between petting and food they are sure to be buddies.

That's all for now. We are off to New Jersey for the weekend to celebrate Poppa Syd's 93rd Birthday. See you next week.
