Roll Over Beethoven

What a huge week of firsts ...

First, Lily rolled over for the first time all by herself. Unfortunately, Marcy and I both missed it -- I was at work and Marcy was drying her hair. Marcy peeked out from the bathroom and lo' and behold, Lil had flipped over.

Second first, regular baby food. Lily has started out on regular baby food this week with a foray into sweet potatos. So far, as you can see below, they seem to be a messy hit. Now she has a little color in diet :)

Third first, Lily seems to have two teeth coming in and she is very much not excited about it. Understandably, it seems to be making her a bit fussy.

Other than that, just another week! Things really are going great! Lily is eating and sleeping like a champ and most of the time she is as happy as ever. Daycare is going well and everyone is getting comfortable with the rhythm of the week. She seems really happy at school. Her classmate Sabrina's mom took some pictures of the daily daycare fun ... I will try and put them up later in the week if I can figure out how to scan them in.

That's all for now.

Lily spending some quality time with her second cousin Jonathan who was in town from Toronto on business.

Lily out on the town with her pal Hayley ... they are so tired of the parental papaprazzi and are just so over the camera.

Lily sitting in her new high chair for the first time ... bring on the chow!

"This is fun ... now where is the food?"

"Hmmm ... that is some good sweet potatoes."

This is Lily's sweet potato equivalent of the "Got Milk" ad campaign.

Out of focus but funny.

What a mess.

Showing off her strong neck.

And being happy while showing off.

Fun with her blocks.

Snow in Her Hair

Lily got her first taste of snow this week as we got about five inches dumped on us over the weekend. The snow wasn't that bad but it was awfully cold out there during shoveling. Anyway, we introduced Lily to the snow and she did not seem that excited ... no more drool present then normal. I am sure she will grow to like it. Next snow storm this season she is going to be out there testing the neighborhood hills on her very own Rosebud.

Other than the snow, just a normal week of incredible leaps and bounds. Every week we are amazed by how quickly she is growing and learning. Her neck and a little body are getting so strong and she likes to try to sit up and roll over. Crawling is right around the corner.

Lily is eating really well - 8 oz. four times a day plus a dinner time feeding of oatmeal. Supplemental veggies are right around the corner. Thankfully, she is also sleeping incredibly well. On most days she is going to bed between 8 and 9 and sleeps until 7. On Saturday she slept from 9 til 9.

Lastly, Lily, being the happening baby that she is has recently been featured on her friend Brooke's blog. As you may remember, Brooke and her parents visited last weekeend and lo and behold Lily's pics showed up on Brooke's page. These babies are such great networkers.

Until next post.

Lily has been enduring some static electricty experiments.

Drool and funky hair ... what more could you ask for.

She is getting more and more comfortable sitting up.

Just having fun staring at her hands.

With the weekend weather Lily had to get ready to play in the snow.

Snow anticipation drool.

About five minutes was all she needed to get a full appreciation of snow and shoveling. She offered to help when she learns to stand up.

Mother and Child Reunion

Another week of exciting milestones. Lily had her third week at day care and seems to be getting adjusted to the rhythm of the week with two working parents.

Friday was Lily's four-month check up at the doctor and all went well. She weighed in at 14 lbs., 1 oz. and was 25 inches long. She is over two feet tall! She is apparently average in height and weight now but the extra inches required a trip to Great Beginnings for a big-girl carseat. We ended up with the Britax Marathon in the "Funky Denim" material. This should be her last car seat ... next up is a booster seat. We capped off Friday with dinner with Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Maurice and family friend Chris who was in town.

On Saturday Marcy's friends Erin, and boyfriend Rob and Kristen, and husband Mark, came over for lunch. Kristen and Mark recently had daughter Brooke (six weeks ago) so there were two babies to pass around and several diapers to change.

Sunday and today were quiet days at home interrupted only by a few little shopping trips and dinner out with Marcy's family last night.

That's all for now...

Lily at the doctor's office on the scale. She will probably stop me from taking these kinds of pictures eventually so enjoy them while they last.

Lily with her friend Brooke. Brooke is the six week old daughter of Marcy's college friend Kristen and her husband Mark. They came over for a visit on Saturday.

Here are Brooke and Lily hanging out on the sofa together. It is hard to believe that Lily was that size 3-4 months ago. She is growing so fast.

Today was the first really bitterly cold day that we had and Lily had to bundle up for a Babies R' Us shopping trip.

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

Today is Lily's four month birthday. She had an exciting day at day care ... eating, snoozing and watching the fish.

We celebrated yesterday with the unveiling of the Exer-Saucer on her four month birthday (as it is now age appropriate) and had a fun dinner of formula and rice cereal.

Last week was a week of the almost new "normal". Lily's first week at day care and Marcy's first week back at work. All went well and everyone seems to have come through with flying colors. Marcy is working only three days a week for a few weeks so everyone is easing into their regular schedule.

Lily's four month doctor's appointment is on Friday so if she signs the appropriate waiver, next week we will have all her new weights and measures and some pictures of the next round of booster shots.

That's all for now.

Lily in her swing. We finally figured out that the seat reclines and all of a sudden Lily doesn't hate sitting in the swing so much.

Working hard with her pony toy.

In honor of her four month birthday, Lily got to play in her deluxe exer-saucer.

"Wow, this is really a lot of toys."

"This one plays a really annoying song."

"What shall I play with first?"

Eating rice cereal.

Initially, she wasn't so sure about the rice cereal but about a week into it Lil seems to be getting the hang of it. More of it is staying down than coming back out.

She is having a really good time here.

It is fun to play with also.

Lounging on Dad... what a way to finish a lazy weekend. Posted by Hello

So Much to Say

So much has happened since our last post I don't even know where to begin. We had to skip a week of posting due to vacation but it was a busy two weeks. In going through the pictures I noticed that we had over three hundred new ones since the last post. As a result, super large update with over 25 pics. I know Lily's die hard fans have been waiting for this.

First we had Lily's visit to my office which is captured below. She seemed to have a good time meeting everyone and she was very well behaved.

Then we had Christmas which everyone seemed to enjoy. First we had a very nice Christmas Eve gathering at Aunt Tracy and Uncle Stan's house. The Christmas day at the Marcy's family with many gifts and much fun. Lily got a bunch of stuff including a high chair and an animatronic Winnie the Pooh.

The next day we were off to Florida and Lily's first plane ride. She was great the entire time. She just hung out on Marcy's lap and slept most of the way down. It was an exciting flight -- an aborted landing in Ft. Lauderdale when there was another plane on the runway -- but she was calm the whole way. Much fun was had in Florida and Lily spent quality time with her Great Bubbie, Great Aunt Donna and Uncle Stephen, Cousins Emilie and Stephanie, her other Great Grandparents Poppa Syd and Grandma Essie and her other Great Aunt and Uncle Eve and Jerry and her Cousins Derek and Graeme. She seemed to love the constant attention.

She is really growing before our eyes. She is eating eight ounces per feeding now and sleeping a ton -- usually indicative of a growth spurt. We have also started her with a little bit of rice cereal via spoon. So far not much luck but I am sure that she will get the hang of it soon. Marcy has headed back to work so Lily has had her first two days at day care and has done great. Her teacher Debbie is very nice and Lily has been doing very well in class. They have a fish tank there and she seems to enjoy watching the fish.

Happy New Year everyone. Regular update will resume this week.
