The Brightest Smile in Town

Lily's first Thanksgiving was a hit. She was very happy to be with her family and to be the center of attention.

It has been a great week. Lily seems to have mastered the smile on command ... now she does it on purpose, not just because of gas. She is a smiling machine.

As important, she has also seemed to learn the joy of sleeping the entire night. Let's review how she did this week:

Sunday - up once
Monday - slept
Tuesday - slept
Wednesday - slept
Thursday - slept
Friday - slept most of the day so she was up once (this was understandable so we won't hold her wakefullness against her)
Saturday - her first sleep over at Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom's and she slept the whole night.

Marcy and I were in Philadelphia last night for a wedding and Lily and Gypsy bunked with Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom. They are on their way back here right now. We only called to check in once yesterday afternoon and then this morning. We heard that she did great and it was nice for us to have a guaranteed night of full sleep.

That is all for now. There may be other pictures on Marcy's camera so I will see what else there is to add later on.

Lily looking at the the Thanksgiving spread. She seems to have realized there is more to eat out than just formula.

Napping on Gramps.

The turkey seems to have knocked Lily out. She was forced to take an an after dinner nap with her husky dog blanket.

They are very close, Lily and her husky blanket.

A little tummy time.

Another snooze.

"This dog just won't leave me alone."

Getting ready to go home.

Getting ready to smile...

almost there ...

Ahhhh ... a smile for dad.

Meet Me in The Bathroom

Alrighty ... technological problems have been overcome. Here is this week's update. Due to our earlier technolgical problems most of the cute pictures are from today.

Big week coming up with Thanksgiving and all so there should be tons of good update opportunities. Lily also has her first night away from her Mom and Dad this week when we go off to Philadelphia on Saturday night for a friend's wedding. She and Gypsy will be in the capable hands of Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom. They will surely spoil her with attention ... and Marcy and I are guaranteed a good night's sleep :).

With the holiday check back for bonus Turkey Day updates. I plan to lay Lily down on the table so that we can get a good comparison between her and the turkey.

Snoozing in her bouncy seat.

Bath time ...

Lily really loves the water now. Not like the old days.

Bright eyed ...

"You mean dad is giving me a bath and not mom!!!"

She seems content despite the fact that her dad is a novice at giving her a bath.

Drying off in her cool froggy towel.

Another good hair day.

Sabotage

Please stand by, we are having technical difficulties.

This has been an unsuccessful evening of blogging. First, it appears that most of the pictures we took this week managed to get corrupted between the digital camera and the computer. Then the few pictures that we did have that were worthy of publishing will not seem to load right now ... this time it is the blogger software's fault. I will try again tomorrow.

Everything with the Lil-ster is going well. She slept the night last night which was time #4 ... very exciting.

Anyway, I will try again tomorrow. I tried, technology has elected to be uncooperative.

If You Wear That Velvet Dress

First off, Lily would like to congratulate her big Cousin Emilie on her passage of the New York Bar Exam. Lily thinks that Em will appreciate the title of the blog entry and it sort of matches her fancy dress she wore out for dinner on Saturday night. Lily's dad had to pay off on election bet that he lost ...

Another exciting week of babyhood is under our belt. No big news to report other than Lily's first teeth and the fact that she standing up on her own. Okay, not really but she seems to be growing more hair. We know that she is making progress towards toddler-hood, it is coming one dirty diaper at a time but we are having a great time. She seems more and more aware every day.

I have noticed that there have been fewer pictures to choose from so we will have to rectify that by taking more. That is all for tonight ... more to come soon.

What shall we talk about?

Lily, working on her blog. We get a lot of creative advice from the subject herself. Here she was doing some editing and spell checking. She writes, 'dajhfsfhsfhwipfgyuvbh".

Lunch with Grandpa.

Hanging out with Grandma. Her little dress tended to ride up a little. Lily said that is how all the babies are wearing them these days. Who am I to argue?

Growin' Up

Well, once again Lily has let down her faithful readers by not having a post up over the weekend. Frankly, I was ready to post but I really didn't have much material to work with ... Lily was on strike from doing anything cute or photo-worthy, the election result just temporarily crushed the cute right out of her. Last I checked she had ordered a onesy that just said, "Don't blame me, I can't vote" ... I will have to talk to her about getting so jaded at such a young age. They grow up so fast these days ...

Since Halloween not much new has happened. Lily is doing well. She is eating over 5 oz. per bottle five or six times a day. (For mood music she is screaming right now upstairs.) Last night, for the third time ever, she slept the night ... 11 pm until 5:45 am. Not too shabby but we are not holding our collective breath that she has given up her 3 am snack. We think that she just forgot that she was hungry last night. We are keeping our fingers crossed but I must admit it is really strange when she doesn't wake up to eat ... At 5:15 this morning I confirmed with Marcy that she hadn't woken up and then I couldn't help but check to see that all was well. She was passed out and slept for another 1/2 hour before waking up famished.

Today, on her two month birthday we all went to the pediatrician for well, her two month visit. All is well ... the nurse practitioner, Monica, said that all looks great. Lily now weighs 10.68 pounds and is 23 inches long. She is slightly below the 50th percentile for weight and is at about the 60th percentile for height ... tall and skinny. Lily seemed quite pleased with her own progress and seemed fascinated by the whole process ... right up until the time the needles came out. Then she wasn't quite as happy. Lily got the first of her booster series for a bunch of stuff I can't remember - four shots in total. In the end she said it was worth it for the cool Blue's Clues band aids that she got. I think she was just putting on a brave face.

Cool updates to come in the near future. A trip to the grandparents this weekend (my parents), Thanksgiving is right around the corner and if you haven't seen a baby wearing a turkey costume you might just see one here at the end of November , a trip to New York in early December where Cousins Emilie and Stephanie are looking forward to an evening of baby sitting and then a very nice week-long vacation in Florida at the end of the year. Lily is looking forward to it all and she has promised us that she will be a lot of fun on all these trips ... especially on the plane.

Also, major editorial changes may be in line for Lily's Pad ... in light of my ... shall we say, sporadic performance, Marcy has suggested I teach her how to make this blog work so she can update sometimes too. We will see what Lily thinks about speaking to you through her mother's eyes. You know how girls and their mothers can be.

On a separate note, any prediction as to what age Lily will get sick of me updating this/having her lige on the internet(s) or having things referred to as Lily's Pad or being associate with frogs or pond algae? Just curious. I am guessing 11 ... 11 months that is. Again, they grow up so fast these days ...

Stay tuned. Time for dinner ... hers and ours and I think the diaper pail needs emptying.

Lounging on Marcy.

Watching tv with Dad.

Just a priceless expression.

"Alright, I will show you my eyes."

Lily with her Great Grandmother Kate aka Yellow Grandma or YG.

Earlier today at the doctor's office for her four week visit.

Lily getting her first shots ... she was not very happy.

Lily is screaming with excitement over her "Blue's Clues" band aid ... actually she seems more angry about the needle going in her other leg. Well, a good lesson in no pain, no cool band aids.

Isn't cute when Marcy and Lily dress identically. Pink sweater, brown pants ... and Marcy said that she did not even do it on purpose. I am not so sure I believe that ... :)
